Mother Courage
By Bertolt Brecht
Carthage College, Kenosha, WI
The challenge: bring Bertolt Brecht's sprawling epic tale of the 30 Years War to life, including the famous wagon of Mother Courage herself. Working with metal/wood artist Blake Buchanan and prop artisan Slim Simonini, the team created the wagon based on a standard 8-foot trailer. The result rolled easily and silently, and was plenty strong enough to hold multiple actors.
