Into The Woods

Music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by James Lapine

The challenge: create the dense ominous forest needed for the show but on a budget. Burlap was formed around plywood trunk sections and student workers carefully sculpted gnarled branches. These, combined with a tatter drop, gave light designer William Newcomb lots of texture to work with. I also designed puppets.
